Bacillus spp. are Gram-positive spore-bearing bacteria and have for long been used as probiotics. Certain strains of Bacillus and their metabolites have been used for biotechnological applications or for improving a robust gut-associated lymphoid system (GALT). In this study, the improvement of intestinal immune system by probiotic Bacillus licheniformis CK1 was investigated. In the first part, the murine macrophage RAW264.7 cell was used to examine the immunomodulatory effects of B. licheniformis CK1.
