Abstract: 本研究以 Tang(2016)、Hsin(2016)及 Chiu(2011, 2023)的研究為基礎,進一步探討漢語附加問句中空位成分 E 與指示代詞「這」類群的關聯,並以李艷惠(2005)的中心語選擇限制作為理論架構。透過兩階段語感問卷及語料觀察,筆者歸納出下列六句範式,明確區分空位成分 E 在不同語句環境中的分布:

(1) 直述句,E1 型(形成主謂與話題結構)
(2) 直述句,E2 型(形成存現結構)
(3) 直述句,E3-1 型(形成屈折語刪略結構)
(4) 直述句,E3-2 型(形成動詞組刪略結構)
(5) 祈使句,E1 型(形成主謂結構)
(6) 祈使句,E3-2 型(形成動詞組刪略結構)

本研究結果指出,代詞體現除了受到附加問句中心語語義的支配,亦同時受到前句語氣、句法結構及言談焦點等多重條件的制約。
筆者將涵蓋 E1~E3 型分類、相關範式以及代詞體現的成立與限制等分析,統稱為「 E 理論」。此理論不僅為附加問句中空位成分 E的語法及語用體現提供更為完整的解釋框架,亦修正了現有文獻中對空位階層、代詞體現及結構劃定的空缺。最終,本研究建構出可預測附加問句空位分布的理論模型。
Building on the foundational work of Tang (2016), Hsin (2016), and Chiu (2011, 2023), this study investigates the relationship between null elements (E) and demonstrative pronouns of the “ZHE”-type category in Chinese tag questions. Adopting Li (2005)’s head selection restrictions as its theoretical basis, this research used a two-stage grammaticality judgment questionnaire and corpus observation, identifying six patterns of E distribution across syntactic environments:

(1) declarative E1-type (subject-predicate/topic structures), (2) declarative E2-type (existential structures), (3) declarative E3-1-type (inflectional ellipsis), (4) declarative E3-2-type (VP ellipsis), (5) imperative E1-type (subject-predicate structures), (6) imperative E3-2-type (VP ellipsis).

The findings show that pronoun realization is influenced not only by the semantics of the tag question’s head but also by the preceding sentence’s mood, syntactic structure, and discourse focus. These analyses are synthesized as the “E Theory,” providing a more systematic framework for explaining the grammatical and pragmatic realization of null elements in Chinese tag questions, while addressing gaps in their classification, pronoun realization, and structural demarcation. Finally, this study proposes a predictive model for null element distribution.
