Since the COP 26 conference in 2021, the global financial industry has begun to actively participate in the development of sustainable finance. This phenomenon demonstrates the industry's aspiration to assist global businesses and society in advancing sustainable transformation through its influence. This research investigates the development of sustainable finance globally and specifically in Taiwan. This research found that, the EU and Japan are more proactive in promoting sustainable finance with well-established regulatory systems. However, in contrast, Taiwan is still at the stage of encouragement and advocacy in advancing sustainable finance, and there is room for improvement in the coordination between public and private sectors. The research further conducted an analysis of Cathay Financial Holding's process of sustainable transformation. Using the C-SOP strategy and Porter's Five Forces analysis, it was found that Cathay has some issues with sustainable development, such as lack of connection between profit models and sustainable transformation. Based on these analyses, this research proposes a revised C-SOP strategy to resolve the problems in the sustainable transformation process. This strategy guides Cathay and its peers to realign the trajectory of sustainable transformation towards profit linkage. |
