隨著TFT LCD 面板在監視器、筆記型電腦、電視與手機等應用,產生爆炸性的成長後,這幾年台灣TFT LCD產業蓬勃發展,大尺寸面板的出貨產值已超越日本,與韓國並駕齊驅。在這樣的成長環境下,也同時帶動了台灣TFT LCD 驅動晶片產業的發展。 本論文的主旨在分析台灣IC設計公司如何運用垂直鏈結策略成功地打入TFT LCD 驅動晶片產業。我們運用價值網的分析,說明垂直鏈結如何產生新的的價值,並利用五力來分析,廠商對上、下游的談判力因垂直鏈結而產生的消長,利用產業生命週期的分析,來探討在不同的時期應該採取的鏈結策略,以及利用交易成本分析,來研究上、下游的廠商中,何者是垂直鏈結的重點對象,同時,分析四種不同垂直鏈結模式的適用性;最後,本研究以個案分析的方式,來說明台灣TFT LCD驅動晶片設計公司採取垂直鏈結策略的績效。 本研究嘗試利用不同的分析方式,來探討TFT LCD 驅動晶片設計公司垂直鏈結策略的必要性和實用性,希望可以做為產業繼續發展的參考。同時,本文的垂直鏈結策略也可以做為其他相似產業的借鏡。 關鍵字: 垂直鏈結策略、TFT LCD驅動晶片、價值網、五力分析、交易成本理論 THESIS ABSTRACT GRADUATE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY NAME: Yin-Wen Mao MONTH/YEAR: July, 2006 ADVISOR: Dr. Ji-Ren Lee A Study on the Vetical Linkage Strategy of the TFT-LCD Driver IC Design Companies As the applications of TFT LCD panel in monitor, notebook PC, TV, and cellular phone become widely adopted, the TFT LCD panel industry has experienced an explosive growth during the past few years. Owing to the rapid demand growth. the sales of large-sized panels has outnumbered that of Japan, running neck and neck with Korea. It is this kind of environment that accelerates the development of TFT LCD Driver industry in Taiwan. The primary purpose of this thesis is to analyze how IC design houses in Taiwan employ vertical linkage to win success in the TFT LCD Driver industry. We employed various analytical tools to explore this issue, including the use of value net framework to demonstrate how vertical linkage brings new values, the use of five-force model to explain the changing bargaining power between the upstream and the downstream player, the use of transaction costs perspective to discuss the benefits of being vertically linkage between driver IC design companies and the panel producer. We analyzed the applicability of four different types of vertical linkage modes. Finally, we provided various case analyses to illustrate the effects of vertical linkage used by TFT LCD Driver design houses in Taiwan. This study is intended to discuss the necessity and the applicability of TFT LCD Driver design houses’ usages of vertical linkage strategy, which can be seen as a reference to the continuing developments of the TFT LCD Driver’s industry. For the other industries with similar environments, this analysis can be a good reference as well.
