The main purpose of this paper is to examine factors that influence individuals’ free trade policy preference. We also examine whether people will have different attitudes toward free trade policy when facing different trade partners. In our research, we focus on China and the United States, and investigate which factors are related to differences in free trade preference. The preliminary finding is that people with higher education level are more pro-trade with a relatively skill-scarce country, China. These results have confirmed that theoretical prediction of Stolper-Samuelson Theory. Also, we find that individual’s political preferences are also significant elements in people free trade attitude formation. |
