Abstract: | Globally, the smartphone industry has grown exponentially in the last decade. In
addition, this phenomenal growth has led to an explosion in the mobile application sector. Currently, the two largest operating platforms that developers create mobile applications for are Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. Despite the rapid and dramatic expansion of the mobile application industry, the majority of mobile applications on the market remain targeted towards users as individuals. This narrow focus has left a virtually untapped market in mobile applications aimed at couples. This business plan will present analysis of the smartphone and mobile application market, pricing strategy, and market opportunities with a primary focus on the two current market leaders – Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android - for a mobile application concentrated on couples. The business model focuses on four key points: reach, engagement, loyalty, and monetization. Termed as the “mobile relationship cycle”, this research reflects the priorities to success in the mobile application sector from a diverse range of mobile application developers. BE Studio’s OurStory is an original mobile application that is poised to serve an unfulfilled need in the mobile application market for smartphone users who are in a relationship. |
