With the rapid advancement of technology, the scope of information applications within enterprises has continuously expanded. To accelerate innovation or maintain a leading position in the market, companies have steadily increased their investments in information technology, resulting in continuous growth in the information services market. In recent years, software services and artificial intelligence applications—such as ChatGPT and large language models—have evolved rapidly. Meanwhile, hardware, networking, and cybersecurity technologies are also advancing in response to emerging policies and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, generating new demands. Information services have thus progressed from digitalization and digital optimization to digital transformation and AI application, becoming a cornerstone of corporate sustainability. Beyond supporting key decision-making, information services may also serve as a source of business innovation and profit generation. This study selected a case company and conducted comparative research with listed or OTC (Over-the-Counter) companies. By examining industry growth trends and the upstream, midstream, and downstream value chains of the information services sector, the study compares the primary business operations and future development directions of competing firms. It further identifies the product categories with the highest relative sales—namely, computer peripheral hardware, communication network security, and software applications and services—for in-depth analysis. Using Porter’s Five Forces framework, the research systematically evaluates the intensity of industry competition, threat of substitution, bargaining power of suppliers and customers, and the pressure of potential new entrants, thereby providing insights into market structure, opportunities, and risks. In addition, this study applies the Strategic Activity System to analyze the key strategic configurations and value chain integration methods of representative information service companies, illustrating how they build competitive advantages through differentiation and resource allocation. Using the BCG Matrix as a business portfolio analysis tool, the study investigates the case company’s market growth potential and relative competitive position. It also analyzes which growth strategies—such as organic growth, diversification, value chain integration, or international market expansion—the company adopts to acquire necessary resources and capabilities. Finally, the study conducts an analysis of the target market scope and competitive advantage for each major product line, summarizing integrated business strategies and corresponding policies and managerial recommendations. By integrating these diverse theoretical frameworks, this research aims to offer concrete guidance for corporate strategy development and investment decision-making, while also serving as a reference for government digital policy initiatives. If the information services industry in Taiwan can effectively integrate internal resources, focus on high value-added areas, and respond to international market dynamics, it holds the potential to become another pillar of Taiwan’s global competitiveness and economic growth. |
