Despite the abundance of literature on precast construction research in Taiwan, covering stages from planning and design, production process, cost analysis, transport and lifting, site assembly, and outcomes of precast methods, most of these studies focus primarily on main structural components like beams, columns, slabs, and walls, with little attention given to stairs, which form a crucial vertical movement line within building spaces. While the cost and quantity of staircase components represent a lower proportion within the overall precast system, their planning and design from the outset play a significant role in buildings, not only in connecting architectural spaces vertically but also as a vital service line for moving between floors during construction. As an architect, the researcher considers not only the architectural design aspect but also the construction and safety aspects. This study intends to approach from the perspective of planning and design phase, taking into account the specific requirements of building industrial factories on hillside lands. After a detailed analysis of actual field problems, it's determined that selecting precast stairs can contribute to reducing labor during the project life cycle, enhancing precision of methods, shortening professional work periods, and mitigating construction risks. By relying on a real research case study that adopted the precast staircase method, this study aims to outline considerations at different stages, from tender planning, basic design, to detailed design. The use of BIM modeling and ETABS structural software for analysis ensures the validity of the design phase and the implementation during the construction phase, thus providing a more comprehensive study for the overall precast construction system in Taiwan. Under the current circumstances where the domestic construction market faces raw material price hikes and a long-term labor shortage due to international factors, the adoption of precast staircase components in this research case shows better results in terms of safety, quality, and work period, compared to cast-in-place and steel structure stairs. When the cost analysis is included and the number of repetitive floors reaches three or more, the construction cost of the precast staircase is lower than that of the steel structure staircase. Compared with the current design model of general industrial factories mainly adopting steel structures with steel stairs, a better choice in the future would be to evaluate the adoption of steel structures in combination with precast stairs. This trend aligns with the long-term development of the construction industry in Taiwan. |
