The present study was conducted to determine the effects of yeast R N A on the serum protein and the muscular protein in chicken. 130 of 7-day-old Shaver 288# male chicken were allotted into 5 groups, 26 birds in each, by random. Group A was used as the initial control. Group B, the experimental control, was injected intramuscularly with 0.5ml of 0.9% Nacl Solution per 100 gm. body weight. The other three groups (C, D and E) were injected intramuscularly with 2, 5, and 10 mg. of yeast R N A per 100 gm. body weight. All of them were injected at 3-day interval. Each week, 3 birds from each group were sacrificed for determining the serum protein by Biuret method and the muscular protein by Kjeldahl method. The results of these experiments are as follows: 1. The experiment groups were compared with the initial control, birds injected with the doses of 2 mg.(C), 5 mg.(D) and 10 mg.(E) R N A were found that their muscular protein concentration were 6.36%, 8.3% and 9.09% higher than the control respectively, and that their serum protein concentration were 9.97%, 4.32% and 9.41% higher than the control too. 2. The difference between the experimental groups and the control determining by the t - test method, is significance in their muscular protein concentration, but the difference is not significance in their serum protein concentration. Yet, the yeast R N A actually has a tendency to increase the serum protein in chicken. The present results provide the direct evidence that the yeast R N A, one of the plant R N Aξ, can participate in the synthesis of protein, when it is injected intra-muscularly in chicken. |
