吳明益小說中的物事書寫研究（2007-2019）

Abstract

藉由物與其背後所承載的訊息以表達其核心關懷與思考可說是吳明益小說創作的特色，因此本文將以文本細讀入手，並旁及相關之理論或概念，試圖探析其物事書寫所觸及的自身定位、歷史層面和人與自然之間的關係的議題。以「物事」命名，因為吳明益關注的並不只是物件的功能或是利益，而是著重物背後所承載的種種線索，因而「物」也指涉「事」，兩者相連，形塑了吳明益以物說事的小說特色。本論文所談的物事涵蓋了人造物和自然物的範疇。本論文分為五章，第一章為緒論，分述研究動機與目的、文獻探討、研究主題與範圍、研究方法和章節架構。物是證明個人存在的方式之一，也是個人確認自身存在的重要依據，因此第二章將從個人層面出發，探討物與自身定位的緊密關係。第三章將聚焦在物的歷史層面，探索小說中的物所承載的歷史意涵和由此所延伸出的歷史議題。第四章將以自然議題為主題，並以神話為參照，關注人於當下高度發展的社會下與自然的複雜關係。這一章也將以神話的「變形」特質為切入視角，探討吳明益模糊物種界限的書寫和其對於人類科研發展的思考。吳明益小說中的物事書寫揭示了人與物事之間的緊密連結，凸顯了往往被社會所忽略的物事的重要性，讓社會學習發展以「複眼」觀看世界是其物事書寫的價值所在。

Wu Ming-yi often expresses his concerns through certain object where message hidden within waiting to be told, which becomes a significant writing style of his fictions. Therefore, this thesis interprets the issues about self-identification, history, and the relationship between nature and human through the object’s writing in Wu Ming-yi’s fictions. The scope of objects discussed in this paper not only referred to human-made objects but also include living things and non-living things in nature. There are five chapters in this thesis. First chapter illustrates motive of study, literature review, research method and scope. On a personal aspect, presence of object proves the existence of an individual, in other words, one verifies his existence through object in his surroundings. In chapter two, the research examines the relationships between object and existence of individual. Chapter three focuses on the historical values of objects and the historical topics that can be discussed. Myth is used as a reference in chapter four. This chapter interprets the complex relationship of human and nature in well-developed society. Also, writing of unidentified species and reflection of human science development that lies within the fiction is interpreted with the concept of metamorphosis. Wu’s object’s writing unfolds the close connection between human and object that people tend to forget, it reminds people to look at the world with ‘compound eye’.
