Intangible assets are accelerators of economic growth and innovation, and the allocation of resources for intangible investment will also have different innovation results. With Government policy implementation in recent years, Medical Device Industry and Pharmaceutical Industry in Taiwan are the important development industries. The purpose of this paper is to analyze influence of intangible investment on innovation performance from Medical Device Industry and Pharmaceutical Industry. It is hoped that it can provide a reference for firms to allocate innovative input and output resources, and then enhance the competitiveness of firms to face severe competition and innovation revolution. The purpose of this paper is to analyze influence of intangible investment on innovation performance from Medical Device Industry and Pharmaceutical Industry. This study is based on the 2011 and 2016 Industry, Commerce and Service Census. The analysis applies probit model and multivariate probit model for the empirical research. First, we analyze the influence of four intangible investments on innovation performance by pooled data in 2011 and 2016.Only product innovation in 2011, we discuss the influence of intangible investment for product innovation from Medical Device industry and Pharmaceutical Industry. Then, we discuss the influence of intangible investment for product innovation, process innovation and organizational innovation in 2016. Our results indicate that the higher the investment in R&D and marketing of medical device and pharmaceutical industry firms in 2011 and 2016, the more innovation they will make, employee training on innovation activities is negatively correlated or not significant, the younger firms, the larger scale and the more export ratio, the more remarkable the innovation results, and the empirical results of other intangible investments are not consistent or not significant. Finally R&D and marketing are most important to innovation performance. |
