Abstract: | In this thesis, we studied subspace (SS) based blind channel estimation methods for multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) cyclic prefixing (CP) based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Two categories of algorithms are proposed: the first one is based on composition of two consecutive blocks while the other on remodulation of these blocks. The proposed algorithms in both categories all require only few received blocks to satisfy the persistency of excitation (POE) criterion. Moreover, some particular algorithms in both categories, unlike a recently reported method that also uses few received blocks, do not require the number of receive antennas to be greater than that of transmit antennas. Simulation results demonstrate the capability of the proposed methods to perform blind channel estimation using few received blocks. Compared to multiple existing SS methods, significant performance improvements of these proposed methods are observed given the same amount of available received data in some common scenarios. |
