Abstract: | 3GPP proposes the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology for the next generation personal communication system. To reduce the transmission latency in the Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN, i.e., the radio network of LTE), the base station and radio network controller are merged into a single network node, eNB. In E-UTRAN, the Hybrid ARQ (HARQ) protocol in the MAC layer deals with transmission errors without the need to engage the ARQ protocol in RLC layer. Only in case of HARQ residual errors, ARQ protocol has to react. The HARQ-ARQ interaction has been introduced to resolve the HARQ residual errors. In this thesis, a simulation model is conducted to investigate the performance of the data transmission between UE and eNB with HARQ-ARQ interaction. We also develop an analytical model to validate the correctness of the simulation model. |
