In IEEE 802.16 wireless broadband networks, the long transmission range and the telecommunication technique of service quality will bring major change to the future network use pattern. Because of the increasing demand of mobile communication and real-time video service, IEEE 802.16e is further proposed to support mobile users. When a mobile station moves from a base station to another base station, it will conduct hard handover process. Handover latency is an important factor which influences the service quality in the mobile communication. In this thesis, we will propose a novel information delivering technique for the process of hard handover process. This technique let user obtain a new connection ID to start the handover process by using the concept of pre-configuration. We also reduce the service dropping rate by balancing the loads between base stations. As shown in the simulation results, the proposed approach making use of these two techniques can reduce the handover latency. |
