Abstract: Cobia, Rachycentron canadum, growing fast, with good meat quality and high feed conversion rate, is the main species of sea cage culture. Fish meal is the primary protein source of culture fishes, owing to the decreasing yield and increasing price, looking for the replacement of fish meal is the research priority. Three growth trails were conducted to use different protein source to replace a part of fish meal on the growth of cobia.
In the first trail, control group was supplemented with 65% of fish meal, experiment group were supplied rapeseed meal (R) 5%, 10% and 15% that fish meal were decrease to 62%, 59% and 56%, respectively. Other three diets were supplemented with phytase 400、600、800 (IU / Kg diet). After six weeks feeding, rapeseed supplemented 10% is the optimal replacement. Phytase supplemented has no significance on the weight gain and feed efficiency.
In the second trail, control group was supplemented with 65% of fish meal, experiment group were supplied corn gluten meal 10%, 15% and 20% that fish meal were decrease to 55%, 50% and 45%, respectively. Other three diets were supplemented with lysine 0.5、1.0、1.5 (g / 100g diet). After six weeks feeding, rapeseed supplemented 15% is the optimal replacement. Lysine supplemented has no significance on the weight gain and feed efficiency.
In the third trail, corn germ meal (Cg) was added to replace fish meal with 5% and 10% to investigate the optimal replacement ratio. Corn protein (Cp) was added to replace fish meal with 10%, 15% and 20% to investigate the optimal replacement ratio. The optimal replacement ratio of corn germ meal and corn protein are 5% and 15%, respectively. Lupin (L), rapeseed meal (R) and corn protein (Cp) were added to replace fish meal. After 42 days of feeding, group LRCp with the lowest weight gain and feed efficiency, group LR、LCp、RCp are after, and differences among the other groups are not significant. The content of fish meal in diets could decrease from 65% to 50% without compromising growth performance.
