Internet of Things, Billions of Things, Trillions of Dollars ~IDC
The Internet of Things represents a new construct in an ICT world. It is this new market proposition that is occupying the collective minds of IT vendors, service providers, and system integrators as it represents huge potential for new streams of revenue and new customers.
This paper is intended for the Enterprises or individuals who are interested in understanding The Internet of Things (IoT) and how it relates to Business Ecosystem. It examines, from the supply and demand perspectives, the evolution of the IoT, the role of the Internet, the market potential and drivers, adoption challenges and readiness, as well as the implications for whoever involver in terms of opportunities and risks.
The Internet of Things across the ecosystem of intelligent systems (ISs), connectivity, platforms, analytics, and applications. Deconstructing its complexity is the first step to understanding the impact and therefore the market opportunity that exists for IT, Sensor & Automation vendors and services providers.
The IoT already impacts our everyday life down to the smallest processes. This study also looked at the co-opetition strategy for the Internet of Things. With this and Business Ecosystem, the new partnership model, we expect the business scale of Internet of things to mushroom from $1.9 trillion in 2013 to $7.1 trillion by 2020.
