台灣電信業 ESG 環境實踐之差異分析

Abstract

隨著全球暖化和氣候變化，ESG已成為一個重要的全球性議題。尤其是台灣電信業的發展，帶動了能源消耗的增加。 本研究透過分析台灣三大電信業者中華電信、台灣大哥大及遠傳電信的ESG環境實踐，為其他台灣電信業者的ESG環境實踐提供寶貴的參考。目的是探討三大電信公司在環境ESG實施上是否存在差異，並根據其最新的2023年ESG報告來識別這些差異。 研究結果顯示，中華電信、台灣大哥大及遠傳電信在環境ESG實務上的差異，反映出各自的策略定位與資源分配。中華電信揭露各項ESG環境議題最完整資訊，全力支持政府政策落實。台灣大哥大在無需耗費太多資源下發展出自己的ESG環境亮點。相較於中華電信、台灣大哥大，遠傳電信在有限的資源下致力於ESG環境實踐。 然而，三大電信公司也有各自需要面對的挑戰，以確保環境永續策略的有效實施和長遠利益。本研究結果可作為台灣電信產業ESG環境實踐的建議基準。

With global warming and climate change, ESG has become an important global issue. In particular, the development of Taiwan's telecommunications industry has led to an increase in energy consumption. By analyzing the ESG environmental practices of Taiwan's three major telecommunications companies, Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and Far EasTone Telecommunications, this study can provide valuable information for other Taiwanese telecommunications companies in their ESG environmental practices. The aim is to explore whether there are differences in the implementation of environmental ESG among the three major telecommunications companies and to identify these differences based on their latest 2023 ESG reports. The research results show that the differences in environmental ESG practices among Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and Far EasTone Telecommunications reflect their respective strategic positioning and resource allocation. Chunghwa Telecom discloses the most complete information on various ESG environmental topics and fully supports the implementation of government policies. Taiwan Mobile has developed its own ESG environment highlights without expending too many resources. Compared with Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications is committed to ESG environmental practices despite limited resources. However, each of the three major telecommunications companies also needs to face corresponding challenges to ensure the effective implementation of environmental sustainability strategies and long-term benefits. The results obtained from this study can serve as the suggestion of the benchmarks for ESG environmental practices for Taiwan's telecommunications industry.
