| dc.description.abstract | This study explores Buddhist leadership and its suitability for building sustainable businesses in Vietnam, comparing it with traditional Western leadership approaches. Through qualitative interviews with Vietnamese leaders, the research examines their perspectives and application of Buddhist leadership concepts in business contexts, addressing challenges and strategizing for sustainability.
The findings reveal that Vietnamese leaders embracing Buddhist leadership principles recognize its value for personal development and sustainable business growth. The main characteristic of Buddhist leadership: love, compassion, wisdom, effective communication, flexibility, and adaptability positively influence their leadership style, fostering prosperity for themselves and their organizations. Buddhist leadership principles enhance self-awareness, decision-making, and self-management capabilities, fostering healthier team relationships and a collaborative work environment. Cultivated compassion and empathy motivate employees, increasing productivity and job satisfaction and contributing to long-term business success. However, challenges and cultural differences hinder widespread adoption in the Vietnamese business community, leading to skepticism and resistance. Despite the possibility of opposition, Buddhist leadership still offers practical implications for self, team, and business development. Integrating mindfulness, empathy, flexibility, and ethical alignment enables leaders to navigate cultural barriers effectively. While additional research is required to validate the effectiveness and applicability of Buddhist leadership in diverse industries, it is evident that Buddhist leadership provides potential for personal growth, team effectiveness, and sustainable business development. The incorporation of concepts such as selflessness, impermanence, and interconnectedness enhances communication effectiveness, adaptability, and flexibility. Moreover, integrating mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion facilitates the formulation of effective strategies benefiting individuals, teams, businesses, and the broader business ecosystem. | en |
