Abstract: 在數位化的時代下,數位創新的重要性逐漸提升,但過去探討資訊主管人格特質如何影響企業數位創新的研究較少。在本文中,我們根據高階理論提出資訊主管的人格特質會影響公司的數位創新績效。此外,我們認為董事會資本,例如董事會人力資本和董事會社會資本,會調節資訊主管的人格特質與公司數位創新間的交互作用。 在本研究中,我們研究2009-2014年間且位於通訊產業(ICT)的企業,並從三個資料庫取得分析數據,分別為:BoardEX取得資訊主管與企業相關數據;ProQuest收集資訊主管新聞報導與訪談會議紀錄;USPTO取得企業專利相關後資料進行分析。最後,我們的研究發現,當資訊主管的個性越樂觀或積極時對企業的數位創新有正向幫助,個性積極的資訊主管與數位創新間的關係會受到董事會的社會資本正向調節,而非董事會的人力資本。樂觀的資訊主管與企業數位創新的關係並不會受到董事會資本的顯著調節。
Based on upper echelon theory, we know that the personality of a supervisor affects a firm’s development strategy. In this article, we propose that a technology director’s personality has a positive effect on the digital innovation of a firm. Furthermore, we suggest that technology directors’ personalities and firm digital innovation are moderated by board capital (e.g., board human capital and board social capital). To examine our hypotheses, we collect the profiles of firms from the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. We retrieve the characteristics of technology directors from the BoardEX database, technology-director-related interviews from the ProQuest database, and patent data from the United States Patent and Trademark Office database from 2009 to 2014. Our research finds a positive relationship between the personality of technology directors and digital innovation. The relationship between proactive technology directors and digital innovation is positively moderated by board social capital. Others are not.
