After human beings arrived, forest and prairie were gradually replaced by cement works, and finally became metropolises. However, parks and green spaces and some architecture spaces which were not fully used by people turned into suitable shelters for wild animals. Thus, a number of wild animals immigrated to metropolis and then became new residents of the city. Among all new residents in the city, birds are the most common species. More than hundreds of species of birds can be observed in Taipei. Malayan night heron (Gorsachius melanolophus) , which was once considered to be rare in the last two decades, and collared scops owl (Otus lettia), a member of protected species in Taiwan, know are both known to be new residents in metropolis. Although human beings and wild animals live in the same place, their life habits still have a long way to go. For wild birds, vehicles, windows and other mankind's activities could be harmful, or even fatal. More than four thousand of injuried bird cases happened in Taipei every year. Therefore, by filming the stories of injured malayan night heronands and collared scops owls, I expect the audience to be more familiar with wild birds and their natural habits. Furthermore, raising the viewer’s awareness of behaviors like abandoning and feeding animals arbitrarily should be prohibited. Finally, human residents’ kindness and respect may make the city wild birds friendly. |
