Abstract: 隨著資料中心與雲端伺服器中資料量快速成長,企業級固態硬碟逐漸成為儲存系統上的主流,以因應不斷成長的存取效能需求。然而,在儲存裝置上運行的應用程式有著不同的效能需求,如何滿足各個應用程式的效能需求並維持效能獨立並非易事。這個現象是由垃圾回收和資料混合所造成的,為了解決這樣的問題,我們提出一個虛擬固態硬碟搭配服務標籤輔助的設計,提供各個應用程式適合的資料管理策略。同時,為了減少垃圾回收造成的負擔,我們提出了部分垃圾回收機制以維持整體效能。最後,藉由實驗我們驗證了所提出方法能達到效能獨立並減少垃圾回收所造成的負擔。
Enterprise SSDs become an alternative solution in data center storage design to meet the keep-growing needs of I/O performance. However, the performance isolation is hard to achieve with different performance requirements of applications executing on the storage device. This phenomenon is caused by garbage collection and the mix of different properties of data on the same erase units. To resolve this issue, we propose a virtual SSD design with service tags to provide appropriate data management to each application. Meanwhile, we propose partial garbage collection to reduce the overhead and maintain the performance of the flash device. The experiment results show that the design could isolate performance to each application and the overhead of the garbage collection could be reduced.
