Long-distance families ,where parents and children live apart, are common. Wechat then become an important plartform for parent-child communicaton. By in-deepth interviewing with 20 long-distance families, I explored how long-distance families communication changes after Wehcat was adopted by in long-distance families. The research results showed that Wechat provide long-ditance families new opportunities in communication. Parent-child communication changes in the frequency of communication, expressing love, self disclosure and soon. Especially, Wechat brings better turn to the communication between father and children. Overall, Wechat bring parent-child communication more positive effects than negative effects, but the effects are influenced by the communication condition of one family. Families that have good communication, affected by Wechat positively. Families that can’t communicate effectively, may have a better turn in parent-child communication when Wechat was adopted, but face a more visible contradiction between children and parents. In the meantime, some family members feel marginalized, they cann’t join the online family communication. |
