Abstract: Since new 5G Technology is going to launch in 2020, Huawei, Chinese tech giant, currently is the No.1 telecom equipment manufacture and service provider in the global market which causes numerous threats to U.S for cyber security and world dominant position. Together with large surpluses enjoyed by China and huge trade imbalance between U.S. and China, Donald Trump has taken a series of actions such as tariffs set up and trade sanction in order to make U.S. great again and seek president re-election for a second term.
In 2019, the US Department of Commerce announced Huawei and its affiliates on its entity list, which effectively banned US companies from selling to the Chinese telecommunications company without US government approval. This action stemmed from information that Huawei was engaged in activities contrary to U.S. national security and foreign policy interest. This action will impact global supply chain up to $105 billion which is not only affecting a huge revenue decrease for Huawei, but also causing a tremendous harm for U.S. suppliers of Huawei and the next progress on 5G technology development.
Although sanction on Huawei has been temporarily suspended by U.S. during G20, 2019, it’s urgent for Huawei to take immediate actions for diverse ecosystem build up to avoid any further punitive measures from U.S. or international economic isolation. Meanwhile, by expanding business along with the One Belt and One Road markets for 5G technology deployment, Huawei could sustain an irreplaceable role in the market.
