The social stigma of obesity in Taiwan has been ignored by the public. The purpose of this thesis is to reevaluate the obesity stigma from a sociological perspective. The report demonstrates how fat people reestablish subjectivity and self-adjust accordingly to this society, a society that discriminates against “unpopular” body types.
First, it demonstrates the social prejudice against obesity using designed graphics and an interactive website, aiming to showcase the concept and design of a multimedia website. First, I document the change in the public’s aesthetic over time in Taiwan. Then I focus on four different topics regarding the obesity stigma: health concerns, mental evolution, spatial discrimination, and the phenomenon of fat internet celebrity.
The second part documents the project making process. A literature review was conducted to better define “fat.” And how the objective environment influence fat people’s the self-identification.  Moreover, the unique “fat-space” that the Taiwanese society has created: its value, culture, and localization.
In addition, social standards are established by the average-sized population. This phenomenon drastically increases the social prejudice against fat people in their family, work space, and in public. This type of public surveillance results in the average-sized people to dominate the use of public space, intimate relationship, and even the person's self-evaluation.
During the time of hardship, the (fat people) interviewee's self-identification would respond to this domination through self-deprecating, escaping, and losing weight.  Due to the popularization of social networking, fat people can easily reach out to the population of similar concerns, using personal examples to inspire subjectivity.
At the end of the thesis, I have reflected this multimedia report including the reason behind why I address the oversized population as 'fat people' and how I developed the outline of the interactive website and my inspirations when designing the visual, interactive mechanism, and background music of the website. Moreover, I have suggested the limitations of a one-man team making the entire process longer and the difficulty to balance instantaneity and creativity, however, the value of this report still persists.
