This study focuses on identifying the factors that are critical for successful delivery of BIM projects by design organizations in the Indian AEC Industry. A research methodology is outlined in this study to identify critical success factors (CSFs) for design organizations by adopting an empirical approach. A questionnaire is designed by studying the influencing factors (IFs) identified from literature and domain experts. Questionnaire surveys and focus group meetings were performed among Indian BIM experts. Statistical analysis such as respondents’ data summary, reliability analysis, and t-test are employed to examine the collected data. In this research, thirty-seven CSFs are identified for successfully delivering BIM by design organizations in Indian AEC industry. These CSFs can be used by Indian design organizations directly to align their teams towards common definition of success. The CSFs identified in this study can help the new projects and its design teams in understanding the BIM priorities, overlaps and pain points in advance and accordingly derive insights into addressing them. This research output can be used to develop the performance assessment tool to evaluate the stakeholders in the organization by clearly defining the factors and its importance in delivering the BIM projects. This research is not only capable of helping small teams of experts in India to identify CSFs, but also generally applicable for identifying CSFs in other countries.en
