摘要: | 英特爾(Intel)自西元1968年成立以來,現為世界級的半導體公司。英特爾在研發與晶片製程的投資不遺餘力,其為現存唯一的垂直整合商業模式的半導體公司。
近年來成長最快的運算處理器市場是移動通信,然而英特爾卻沒有辦法在這個市場有所斬獲。目前iPhone和iPad都是使用ARM的處理器,大部份的Android裝置也使用ARM的處理器。英特爾的競爭對手把晶片生產的部分委外代工。因此英特爾這樣垂直整合的商業模式是否適合現在新的半導體工業? 身為業界的領導者,英特爾慣於帶領業界轉型,並得到豐厚的利潤。本文分析英特爾的核心能力。與其落實於具體目標的執行能力,並探討是否能把ARM處理器的市場典範轉移至英特爾架構處理器的市場。 Intel was founded in 1968 and it became the world’s leading semiconductor company. Intel intensively invests in R&D and manufacturing foundry and is the only chip company in the world that sustains its vertically integrated business model. Mobile market is the fastest growing market in computing and communication. Intel failed to provide chip in mobile market, which is full of low-power ARM processors. These ARM processors power every iPhone and iPad, almost every Android device. In mobile market, the rivals of Intel do not maintain chip manufacturing facility. Does Intel’s capital-intensive, vertically integrated business model can still dominate the new semiconductor industry? As the leading semiconductor company, Intel tends to lead the industry in transforming businesses and takes the lion’s share. This paper will discuss Intel’s core competences and its strong execution capability to reach goal. It has plans to shift paradigm from other processors to Intel Architecture processors in every computing markets. |
