Abstract: 軟性薄膜顯示器(flexible thin film display)中的電泳式顯示器(Electro-phoretic Display),是改變浸泡在光吸收性液體之中高折射率的微小粒子的位置,而形成了軟性顯示器的亮暗灰階;因此微小粒子的各種性質會影響到軟性顯示器的光學表現。
此論文中,我們模擬軟性顯示器的基本元件的二維結構,並採取時域有限差分法(Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method),分析不同數量均勻分布的微小粒子、不同大小的隨機分佈微小粒子、不同角度入射光角度下,對軟性薄膜顯示器照成的光強度對比影響,並就其不同的上述情形,探討其影像的成像品質。我們的目標是了解在軟性顯示器中得到最佳對比度的條件。
The electro-phoretic display is a kind of flexible thin film display which makes differences in the intensity of light by changing the distribution of small particles immersed in the light-absorbing liquid. We can see that the physical characteristics of particles have effects on the optical quality of flexible thin film display.
In this thesis, we apply the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method to simulate the 2D structure of flexible display element, analyzing the influences of different amount of uniformly distributed particles, different sizes of random particles and different incident angle of incident light on the contrast ratio of optical intensity and discussing their qualities of imaging. Our goal is to determine the conditions of the optimized contrast ratio in the electro-phoretic display.
