dc.description.abstract | 品特的作品由於語言風格特殊,向來給人「晦澀難明」、「模糊不清」和「不確定」等印象。Martin Esslin在《荒謬劇場》一書裡將品特歸類為荒謬劇作家,導致後來的學者討論品特總跳脫不出「荒謬」之範疇。然而,縱觀Esslin對荒謬二字的解讀,品特的作品卻不盡符合荒謬的條件。相較於荒謬劇作家對存在虛無的關心,品特將焦點放在人類當下的處境。「日常生活的瑣碎」是他最愛的題材,筆下人物所使用的語言,亦是十分寫真:荒謬劇中常見的溝通困境,事實上並不存在於品特劇裡。然而,由於品特的對白經常以一種「濃縮的換置」方式呈現,是以用「找尋次文本」的方式解讀無異緣木求魚。品特的世界在文明的表象之下蘊蓄著一股史前的、非理性的能量,這股能量的釋放正是透過語言。於此,我們可以在人物話語的交鋒之中察覺權力和欲望的鬥爭。這是基於存在的不安全感,既是無可奈何的選擇,亦為與生俱來的動物本能。
本篇論文將首先針對Esslin評論品特的幾點謬誤提出修正,並援引Turner的中界(liminal)概念來釐清品特撲朔迷離的特殊風格。以此奠基,本篇論文將繼續從劇場符號學和社會語言學的角度涉入,以品特早期幾個具代表性的七部作品為例,深入分析品特語言背後的操作性因素,並檢視語言背後的權力遊戲。 | zh_TW |
