This study applies citation analysis to investigate the disciplinary interflow of Library & Information Science (LIS) in Taiwan and explores the differences and relationships of research topics and citations among other disciplines. The indexed papers in Taiwan Humanities Citation Index (THCI) database from 1996 to 2002 are regarded as analyzed objects. The results show that the researchers of LIS mostly cooperate with those of Social Science and Engineering & Technology. In addition, LIS researchers focusing on “Library Information Technology” and “Read Services” are much eagerer to cooperate with researchers from other disciplines. As to the citation behavior, LIS researchers frequently cite literatures of Social Science, Engineering & Technology, and History. Especially, the major of cited literatures are written in Chinese and published 5 to 10 years earlier than the citing papers. The LIS research topic, “Administration and Management”, has the largest COC (citation outside category) index and WCOC (weighted citation outside category) index. This shows “Administration and Management” has relatively higher degree of disciplinary interflow. However, with comparison to the previous studies, the COC index and WCOC index show the tendency of decrease. |
