Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has gained global awareness and interest among scholars and corporations since mid 1900s; and yet, the principles and the scope of CSR still under ongoing substantial transformation. Corporate Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) is the latest term that has been exploiting in recent CSR literature. The social obligation for corporations to make impacts on social issues has reinforced the necessity of CSR practice. The motivation of such practice has evolved from fulfilling ethical concisions to maximize profits and till today’s blend value of previous two drives. This paper explores the evolution of CSR in three eras, and examines two successful companies in the practice of CSE; Starbucks Coffee Company and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and seeks to understand how CSR developed into an innovative niche for sustainability. Furthermore, the paper discusses the key elements in CSE that are significant in transforming the way a company operates by case analysis, and proposes the future opportunity.en
