dc.description.abstractTravelDealsAsia (TDA) belongs to the category of Travel Deal Portals (TDPs).
TDPs are a well-established business concept in some regions of the world (mostly
Europa and North America). They concentrate on sharing unusually good-value travelrelated
offerings (travel deals) with their users through their websites and mobile device
applications. Travel deals include flights, package holidays, hotels and other travelrelated
products and services. TDPs do not sell or provide travel services (are thus to be
distinguished from online travel agencies). They merely provide information about travel
deals that individual users would normally be unable to identify.
TDPs are typically consumer-centred. TDPs do not only rely on their users for the
generation of revenue (through purchases that the users make via affiliate program links),
but users also provide some of the portal’s content in their role as ‘prosumers’.
