Abstract: | This research addresses the concept of value creation perspectives from different models and theories such as the value chain model, the supply chain theory, the ecosystem theory, and the service-dominant logic metatheory. The analysis of different value creation perspectives is defined using the current theory under goods-dominant logic and service-dominant logic. For validation, a case of banana sold in Taiwanese convenience stores is analyzed and derived in behavioral and structural propositions. Finally, the ten propositions have been applied to build the supply chain of tree tomato (Solanum betaceum) in Ecuador. The ten propositions as presented as follows: (1) The actors give a different meaning to value. (2) Value is visible by the actors-to-actors relationship. (3) Value is enhanced by internal and external coordination mechanisms. (4) Value is dynamic and subject to volume variation. (5) Value is the consequence of resources used in the ecosystem by the actors’ interactions. (6) The value chain is the basic unit for value cocreation. (7) The supply chain is integrated by different actors that contribute directly or indirectly to the cocreation of value. (8) The supply chain is an element of an agribusiness ecosystem. (9) The value system is a complex arrangement of actors. (10) A value system acts under an agribusiness ecosystem. This research is significant because it is the first time that the ideas of value from goods-dominant logic and service-dominant logic are unified in a framework. This framework can be applied to analyze value perspectives in agribusiness. |
