zh_TW
This study aims to examine the relationships among social media photo-based feature usage, body image, and orthorexia nervosa among young adults in Taiwan, with a particular focus on the mediating role of body image. As idealized body shapes and health-oriented dietary content become increasingly prevalent on social media platforms, young people face heightened appearance-related expectations and food-related anxiety. In this context, the phenomenon of orthorexia nervosa—an excessive preoccupation with healthy eating—has garnered growing scholarly attention. This research collected 424 valid responses from individuals aged 18 to 30 through an online survey. The questionnaire assessed social media usage, body image, orthorexia nervosa, and basic demographic information. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation, multiple regression, and bootstrapped mediation analysis. The results indicated that the use of photo-based features on social media was positively associated with both body image and the three dimensions of orthorexia nervosa. Moreover, body image fully mediated the relationship.en
