海洋島嶼的身世重探：論朱和之長篇歷史小說中的海洋性與史觀重構

Abstract

2010後，臺灣再度迎來一波歷史小說的創作熱潮。其中，朱和之因接連斬獲大獎成為當中備受矚目的創作者，包括拿下第一屆臺灣歷史小說創作獎佳作的《逐鹿之海》，以及取得全球華文文學星雲獎歷史小說首獎的《樂土》。朱和之的歷史創作中展露了他梳理自我認同的企圖，以及藉由小說重探歷史、開展未來的盼望。本文以其三部長篇歷史小說《鄭森》、《逐鹿之海》、《樂土》為研究對象，援引新歷史主義、元史學為詮釋框架，指出作者在其中如何調度史料、設計角色、安排情節，進而從中挖掘，凸顯蘊藏在史料中的當代議題，並且利用小說筆法，達到「打造認同敘事」的目標。本文將指出，朱和之的三部歷史小說，透過強調臺灣的「海洋性」，旨在回應臺灣「參與國際」、「去中心化」的時代需求，並且偕同促成了臺灣2010年後的海洋史觀轉向。

Since 2010, Taiwan has witnessed a renewed wave of historical novel writing. Among the most prominent writers in this movement is He-Chih Chu, who rose to prominence after consecutively winning major literary awards. His acclaimed works include Zhu Lu Zhi Hai (The Sea of Contention), which received an Honorable Mention in the first Taiwan Historical Fiction Award, and Paradise, which won the First Prize in the Historical Fiction category of the Global Chinese Literature Hsing Yun Awards. Chu’s historical fiction reveals his efforts to explore self-identity and his hope to re-examine history and envision the future through the novel form. This paper focuses on three of Chu’s full-length historical novels—Zheng Sen, The Sea of Contention, and Paradise—and adopts New Historicism and Metahistory as interpretive frameworks. It analyzes how Chu mobilizes historical sources, constructs characters, and arranges plotlines to excavate and highlight contemporary issues embedded within historical materials. Through literary techniques, Chu seeks to create a “narrative of identity.” This study argues that Chu’s trilogy emphasizes Taiwan’s “oceaness” to respond to contemporary needs for international engagement and decentralization. In doing so, his works have contributed to a shift toward a maritime historical perspective in Taiwan’s historiography since 2010.
