zh_TW
This study aims to explore the impact of social media usage patterns on exercise motivation and behavior and to examine the moderating effects of online social support and social comparison goals. The hypotheses propose that both active and passive social media use positively influence autonomous motivation. Online social support moderates the relationship between active social media use and autonomous motivation, social comparison goals moderate the relationship between passive social media use and autonomous motivation. Autonomous motivation mediates the relationship between social media use and both exercise intention and exercise behavior. The study employed a survey method to collect 602 valid samples. The results indicate that both active and passive social media use positively influence autonomous motivation. Online social support positively moderates the relationship between active social media use and autonomous motivation, while social comparison goals do not moderate the relationship between passive social media use and autonomous motivation. Autonomous motivation mediates the relationship between social media use and exercise intention but does not mediate the relationship between social media use and exercise behavior. This study provides new insights into the relationship between social media usage and exercise behavior, emphasizing the crucial role of social support in fostering exercise motivation. The findings of this research can offer valuable insights and new design directions for fitness enthusiasts and fitness app developers.en
