努力繁榮：馬來西亞華人在台安家的實踐研究

Abstract

本研究旨在更深入瞭解居住在台灣的馬來西亞華人移民在東道國安家過程的影響因素，也可以被視為本人過往對於荷蘭華人移民研究的呼應。儘管世界各地有大量關於華人移民的資料，但大部分此類資料都專注於來自中國大陸的移民群體，有關其他華語地區的華人移民的資料依然十分有限。本研究採用了半結構化訪談的研究方法，並應用紮根理論（GT）進行資料分析。訪談歧視、社交圈以及台灣馬來西亞華人的未來前景等議題。透過數據分析，歸納出以下主題，例如歸屬感、文化認同、種族、家庭、刻板印象、歧視、生活目標、工作保障和 LGBTQIA+議題等。透過對這些主題的思考，人們可以更瞭解馬來西亞華人在台灣的歸屬感。和過往的參與者相似，馬來西亞華人同樣注重實用性，但細節上也存在細微差別。本研究期望能有助於提高人們對技術移民在異質和同質社會中所面臨的困境的認識。

This research contributes to a deeper understanding of themes that influence how Malaysian-Chinese migrants living in Taiwan are experiencing the process of homemaking in a host country. Based on my previous thesis on ethnic Chinese migrants in the Netherlands, this research can be regarded as the counterpart. While there is a significant amount of data on ethnic Chinese migrants from mainland China all over the world, there is little to be found on ethnic Chinese migrants from other Sinophone regions migrating. Data is collected from semi-structured interviews and Grounded Theory (GT) is applied. During the interviews themes such as discrimination, social circles, and future prospects of Malaysian-Chinese in Taiwan are discussed. Through data analysis, recurring themes such as a sense of belonging, (cultural) identity, ethnicity, homemaking, stereotypes, discrimination, lifegoals, job security and LGBTQIA+ come forth. By considering these topics, one can have a better understanding to what extend Malaysian-Chinese feel at home in Taiwan. Like my previous participants, my Malaysian-Chinese group are also focused on practicalities, yet there are distinguished nuanced differences. I wish my research can contribute to a higher awareness of struggles of skilled migrants in both heterogeneous and homogenous societies.
