From White Background ID Photos to Wedding Photography, photography studios have long been a pioneer in the commodification of experiential economy, serving as a prominent service industry space. With the development of digital internet technology, numerous subcultures and visual art trends within new media culture are continuously becoming the emerging lifestyle of young people. In response, new types of photography spaces provide physical experiential venues and cultural production environments for this cultural lifestyle. The operation model of such photography spaces breaks away from the traditional layout and business model of the photography industry, leading to a "dual existence in the cloud and on the ground" daily life for their operators. This subculture-driven economic model gradually permeates into mainstream commercial culture, giving rise to a new generation of digital symbol consumption culture. This study attempts to illustrate how users and operators of photography studio spaces generate online and offline interactions and engage in daily life practices through the new digital era economic model. Drawing from the field of Guangzhou subculture photography studios, this qualitative research employs participatory observation to examine and record the establishment, construction, and operation models of different photography spaces in Guangzhou, as well as the identity replacement between space users and operators. The aim is to explore the development of scene experiential economy, symbol consumption, and new sharing economic models catalyzed by the mobile digital era. By comparing the spatial transformation of subculture photography studios and commercial photography bases, the study reveals the mainstreaming phenomenon of subcultures within the context of modern aesthetic universalization. The highly overlapping identities of space builders and users demonstrate the application of cultural symbols and daily practices within photography studio spaces, wherein individuals with multiple identities in the cloud and on the ground achieve self-realization through style uploads and cultural downloads. Furthermore, by discussing the impact of online cultural transmission among the mobile digital generation on daily life, exemplified by the "Little Red Book phenomenon," the study analyzes the cultural manipulation mechanism behind this new sharing economy and how it affects physical urban spaces and everyday life. Finally, this article points out that in the study of the relationship between space producers and consumers, the symbiosis of the sharing economy and the symbolic economy is driven by a series of urban new-type spatial industries, with photographic space at the forefront, continuously evolving. In the discussion of the relationship between physical space and virtual space, the power of flow completely overturns the center and periphery of urban space. |
