dc.description.abstract | 能源轉型是許多國家首重的目標之一,其中也包含臺灣在內。 | zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | The energy transition is a top-prioritized goal for many countries, including Taiwan, and recognizing the importance of gender equality in the energy sector is crucial for achieving a just transition. Gender mainstreaming in the sector is suggested potential to enhance the effectiveness of the transition. Despite its importance, few studies have employed a gender perspective to analyze Taiwan’s energy industrial sector. Among the statistical research, most have targeted governmental organizations and no study has systematically examined the current status of female representation in Taiwan’s energy industrial sector. Therefore, this research aimed to fill this gap. Domestic companies, government agencies, and foreign companies involved in energy generation or supply in Taiwan. I first discovered that only approximately half of the companies provided data for gender ratios. Data were lacking particularly for the ratios at the executive and management levels. I then unveiled that gender ratios at the board, executive, and management levels for Taiwanese companies were often much lower than those of international companies. This finding contrasts with the comparable gender ratios at the overall employee level between Taiwan and international companies. This study thus identified the areas (1) where further data disclosure is needed and (2) where female representation has been slow. These findings will be the foundation for designing intervention measures to foster gender equality and the energy transition in Taiwan. | en |
