| dc.description.abstract | " 本文主要探討《中國叢報》中的新教傳教士中國宗教觀，此處的中國宗教觀意指傳教士對中國宗教知識的調查結果或既存觀念。《中國叢報》的目錄《中國叢報二十卷主題總索引》（General Index of Subjects Contained in the Twenty Volumes of the Chinese Repository, 後簡稱《總索引》）中的「異教（Paganism）」類，是《中國叢報》與中國宗教最為相關的類別。本文將以「異教」類為基礎，適時加入其他類別，研究《中國叢報》撰寫文章數最多的三人對中國宗教知識的討論和演變，此三人分別為馬禮遜（Robert Morrison, 1782-1834）、裨治文（Elijah Coleman Bridgman, 1801-1861）與衛三畏（Samuel Wells Williams, 1812-1884）。 馬禮遜曾協助《中國叢報》創刊，並在《中國叢報》上與漢學家或投稿者討論佛教、輪迴、未來國度福祉等議題，尤其關心政治與宗教之間的關係。馬禮遜以《中國叢報》作為平台，傳遞中國宗教的知識，討論宗教信仰的內涵。比較《馬禮遜回憶錄》與《中國叢報》的觀點差異，可知馬禮遜在1825年仍相信四書五經中最古老的部分存在God的知識；然到了1832年，他已改變此觀點。以上展現馬禮遜對中國宗教的看法，曾發生重大轉變。 裨治文在「異教」類中，關注譯名之爭以及中國政治與宗教的關係。裨治文探究中國宗教與政治結合的地方實踐，並在1842年因閱讀《三才圖會》而認為古代中國君王帶領中國民族成為God的信從者。裨治文對中國人與God的關係，在此後歷經重大轉折。1847年在《中國叢報》上已可見裨治文完全不相信「上帝」一詞代表God，也不再相信中國人是認識God的民族。裨治文的中國宗教觀，並非僅是作為中國宗教觀察的結果，也是他認知與反思中國宗教、基督宗教以及God翻譯理念的過程。 衛三畏長期作為《中國叢報》的編印，在1848年出版的《中國總論》中，將「上帝」與God等同。但在1849年，他對中國的上帝信仰與God翻譯問題發表意見，主張時下中國人已喪失God知識，而且「上帝」一詞不一定具有God的意涵。由於衛三畏認定用「上帝」一詞翻譯God，會使中國人將God與玉皇上帝和玄天上帝混淆，可見中國宗教對衛三畏God翻譯的選擇，以及對他如何認識中國人與God的關係，有至為重要的影響。 透過以上三人的文章，可以理解新教傳教士對於中國宗教的討論，不僅限於對異文化的分類與引介，而是中國宗教知識如何被傳教士們有意地使用，作為一種宣稱與論證的材料。《中國叢報》中的中國宗教知識傳播與傳教士對God翻譯的選擇、爭辯與轉變，皆與傳教士的中國宗教觀息息相關。 " | zh_TW |
