| dc.description.abstract | 本文的研究對象傅禮門教授是一個活躍於激進年代的美國的中國研究學者，曾經與其他的CCAS學者一樣，激烈的批判美國的學界主流，同情和讚揚當時中國的革命。然而，與其他的CCAS學者一樣，傅禮門的思想也經歷了類似但卻不同的數次轉變。傅禮門將自己定位為一個左派的學者，他擁有如同左派一樣對底層人民的關懷和強烈的反威權、支持民主的傾向，但卻不認同古典馬克思或反資本主義的觀點。他雖然批評右派，但也被許多同樣自認為左派的學者所不認同。他的知識立場相當獨特，因而在學術界也很孤獨。
本文認為，傅禮門對於人權和民主價值的核心關懷，是他早期批判美國，同情中國的關鍵，但也造成他後來的轉變。透過對傅禮門的研究，本文所揭露的是，美國的中國研究並非是學術主流所宣稱的客觀中立，而是受到各種主客觀因素，以及學者的個人需求、關懷所影響，往往會有很大的變動。傅禮門的核心關懷和中國的實情變化不大，變的是美國社會和學者根據自己的需求所建構出來的中國形象。因而，傅禮門對美國的批判和對中國的關懷，是一體兩面，反映的其實是對美國社會和其價值的關懷，因而也無法擺脫美國知識社群既有的特殊性和某種以自我為中心的視野。這是傅禮門關懷中國的視角，但也是他之所以感到孤獨的主因。 | zh_TW |
