| dc.description.abstract | This business plan describes Origit, a company based in Taipei, Taiwan the provides technical solutions to prevent counterfeiting.
Over $600 billion in counterfeit goods is trafficked around the globe annually. Counterfeit products such as drugs, electronic, and food, can present a significant risk to the safety of consumers as well as stifle innovation in industries with high R&D cost. Origit offers a new and innovative solution to establish trust between buyers and sellers through the creation of a digital twin of a physical product that can be tracked and stored using distributed ledger technology such as a “blockchain”. The digital twin acts as a record of the product’s history by tracking its status and authenticity. By linking this digital twin with an NFC chip embedded in a physical product, consumers can verify the authenticity of the product via an NFC reader. This product provides several benefits to the end-consumer as well as producers and distributors throughout the supply chain. Companies will be able to control the supply of digital twins thus preventing manufacturers from producing excess merchandise to be sold on the black market. This also allows products to be tracked after leaving the factory throughout the entire supply chain. Buyers are able to determine if the product is genuine or counterfeit, provide proof of ownership, as well as access information about the product such as production date, manufacturing location, warranty information, and any other data companies wish to include within their merchandise. This thesis will describe the technology and it’s benefits over existing solutions, provide a roadmap for business startup, deliver a market entry strategy, and provide a detailed and conservative financial plan. | en |
