The development of Voice over IP technology, known as Internet telephony, changed the telecommunications environment. Old business models, often monopolized national carriers, now have to struggle to sustain their market position. This situation works for favor of end-user, especially when it comes to the price drop for the international calls. Thanks to that another obstacle for the development of the international business is being put down. The VoIP will also change the way we use the telephone today. Because of the Internet’s open architecture voice service can be applied to the market in the all different variations.

The discussed technology itself is just a milestone on the way to triple play experience of converged technologies that we would be able to experience in the near future. The VoIP can be a remedy to some problems of the old telephony system still being used in large scale, but it also has some drawbacks. When we look at it from the business point of view because of the lower entry barriers and capital environment in some markets and in the result - the enhanced competition, the simple VoIP service does not seem to be that economically appealing anymore. The problem is, that when the service is being popularized as the ‘free telephony’ the chance to earn on it getting limited.

This paper presents some VoIP enabled business models bringing solutions to temporary telecommunications problems. The market feasibility analysis for one of such new models is also done to mark the importance of delivering the innovative service rather than copying the existing ones even if they seem to be profitable to date.
