In order to understand and comprehend the problem of green buildings in Taiwan, this report aims at exploring the potential problems of green buildings in universities, trying to figure out the serious part of Taiwan’s environmental issues.
This report is divided into three parts and six chapters.
The preface and chapter 1 analyze the rise of green buildings, attempting to guide readers to understand why the report selects the green building in universities as interviewing targets. In this way, readers can realize the meaning and its significance of this issue.
Chapter 2 to chapter 5 attempt to find out whether there’s any good example of green buildings in the 5 excellent universities of Taiwan. Since each university has its different geographic conditions, which might cause the pros and cons on the performance of green buildings. Moreover, this report will indicate the key point that the maintenance of campuses’ environment is often determined by a handful of superior departments.
The last chapter is the reflection and conclusion of this report. It concludes the present plight and appearance of green buildings in Taiwan. Through different characters’ (scholars, the government, people engaged in the building trade, and environmental organizations) interpretation, we can understand that there are more choices for the green buildings. Still, we look forward to seeing Taiwan’s environmental issue going in the right direction, and hope it will be valued more by the public.
