| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | A successful participatory BIM model review makes the design appropriately satisfy the demands of end-users. It requires an effective communication platform that allows end-users to identify design issues and to negotiate design solutions even though they have a limited knowledge of design specifications and/or they are geographically dispersed. Therefore, this research proposed a Virtual Reality (VR) enhanced communication platform namely Virtual BIM Reviewer (VBR). The VBR used a BIM model as a basis and assisted with VR technology to visualize and comprehend designs and to facilitate communications. A user design change scenario was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the VBR by comparing it with a conventional BIM-based reviewer. In the experiment, the participants were asked to identify design issues and to negotiate design solutions; the roles of all participants were end-users. The results showed that the average issue they found through the VBR is significantly higher than through the BIM-based reviewer. The average task loading for solution negotiation they suffered through the VBR is significantly lower than the BIM-based reviewer. To sum up, the VBR is an effective communication platform to support a participatory BIM model review and it can be improved under different user scenarios such as communication including different types of participants and non-simultaneous communication. | en |
