Not Another Health App, short NAHApp, is a service that shall help millions of obese and overweight people who are trying to lose weight by self-injection medication at home. These medications became extremely popular in 2024, and millions in the US currently use them. However, having interviewed six people interested in or even presently using these medications, I recognized that this is a particular weight loss journey, which is not supported correctly by any existing health or fitness applications (apps). Still especially these people often need some additional support beyond their current tools and social communities for this specific journey in their life.
So I studied what makes fitness apps and their support for weight loss successful and what keeps app users of fitness apps engaged in using them. I used the information and tested it in the interviews I performed to refine the value proposition of NAHApp. What evolved is a unique concept of a health application that is not only engaging by its simplistic interaction method but also has the potential to incorporate easy way features that are popular from literature and popular for the interviewed user groups.
It shouldn't be just another health app, so I defined a particular segment of users to enter the market: the "tech-savvy gamer." The persona is not only unserved by existing fitness apps. Also, it is perfect target persona for the early innovators for NAHApp, an application based on large language models (LLM) combined with blockchain technology. This tech-driven approach contains risks of failures and bugs in the application that are better tolerated by a tech-savvy person than the broader market.
To enter the market, a 3-phase success strategy is presented in its execution and financial projections over 3 years. In phase 1, initial investments are made to get NAHApp – together with the tech-savvy gamers – robust. That incorporates the buildup of a powerful database for the LLM specific for the weight loss journey of medication users . As this user group has a limited number, phase 2 expands to busy people who want to lose weight but need a customized and easy-to-use application. Phase 3, after increased revenue, will make the application a powerful one-stop shop for weight loss support.
With an active paying user base of only 250,000, NAHApp can break even in the fourth year with a high possibility of ongoing commercial success if that milestone can be achieved. But NAHApp's success will not be counted commercially only. Its achievement is to help people in need to reach their target weight and, more important implement a sustainable behavior to ultimately achieve a better life.
