| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | This research conducts a qualitative investigation and aims to examine the experiences relating to disseminating messages of e-cigarettes among high school students in Taiwan in order to inform the future Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act and the regulation of e-cigarettes after considering the high accessibility and Potential intention of e-cigarettes among high school students in our country. This research recruits those who are both: (1) high school student in Taiwan and age 15 ~17 years old. (2) have seen disseminating messages of e-cigarettes.
This qualitative research helps to understand the perceptions of e-cigarettes’ information and the relevant experiences among high school students. In so doing, this research identifies the key factors associating with perceptions of disseminating messages of e- cigarette with a purpose of providing empirical basis to enable an effective policy of e- cigarette’s disseminating messages. The research found that a sense of becoming quotidian is the core regarding high school students use e- cigarettes in Taiwan. These messages form the quotidian sense of teens toward the e- cigarettes are through the social media which teens have been immersed themselves in, one thing led to another, the quotidian sense of e- cigarettes make teens to see e- cigarettes as a usual part of daily life; thus, the teens would keep spreading the disseminating messages of e-cigarettes on the social media in daily life, which reinforces the quotidian sense of e- cigarettes on the teens repeatedly; furthermore, the ungoverned characteristic and the interactions on social media make e- cigarettes able to reach the teens who have never smoked cigarettes. The quotidian sense of e-cigarettes could cause difficulties of the implement of preventive interaction of e- cigarettes. In Taiwan, we have started to forbid the e-cigarettes in any use since 2023. However, whether the execution of the relating laws and the education policy can break away the quotidian sense of e- cigarettes for teens would be the key. Furthermore, this research is completed before the prohibition of e-cigarettes, so the findings share a lot of characteristics with the new substance like raipd changing or incapable law enforcement and how the new substance get into the daily life of teenagers through the peer influences or the emerging technology like social media; so that this research can inform future policy interventions to creat early warning effects. | en |
