Abstract: None
Thailand's rapidly growing gig economy presents both opportunities and challenges for students seeking flexible work and practical experience. Existing platforms often prioritize established freelancers, leaving students with limited visibility and limited opportunities to build their portfolios. This thesis proposes the development of a niche gig marketplace designed to empower students by connecting them with micro-gigs that leverage their academic skill sets. These bite-sized tasks, tailored to students' flexible schedules, will be curated within a locally-focused platform. The platform will prioritize gigs aligned with regional industries and events, fostering connections within students' communities.
Market research plays a crucial role in understanding the specific challenges and preferences of Thai students within the gig economy. Through surveys and market research, we aim to identify the cultural and economic factors influencing students' job-seeking behaviors. This data will be vital in tailoring the platform to effectively meet student needs and preferences, ensuring high user adoption and platform success. A comprehensive market analysis is performed to understand the external factors and competitive landscape surrounding the proposed platform. This analysis will utilize Porter's Five Forces framework to assess the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, the threat of new entrants and substitutes, and the intensity of competitive rivalry.
The marketing plan will leverage a multi-channel approach to reach our target audience of Thai students. This includes utilizing social media platforms, university partnerships, and strategic collaborations with student organizations. The platform will prioritize a user-friendly interface and mobile app accessibility to ensure a seamless user experience. Additionally, content marketing initiatives will focus on educating students about the benefits of gig work and highlighting the unique value proposition of Talent Marketplace.
For organizational management, a lean organizational structure is envisioned for initial operations, focusing on core development and user acquisition. The team will consist of skilled individuals with expertise in technology development, marketing, and business development. As the platform scales, strategic partnerships and outsourcing opportunities can be explored to optimize operational efficiency.
Revenue will be generated through commission collected from students getting hired and in-app ads placement. Talent Marketplace will prioritize investment in its initial year (Year 1). This strategic allocation of resources, totaling approximately THB17 million, will be directed towards app development and establishing a robust operational foundation. This focus ensures a seamless user experience before the official launch, laying the groundwork for future profitability. The platform expects to achieve profitability in Year 2 and reach a break-even point by Year 3.
