| zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | Taiwan and Hong Kong have outperformed compared to other Asian locations in gradually moving towards achieving the 95-95-95 targets. The targets are for 95% of people with HIV (PLHIV) to be aware of their HIV status, 95% of PLHIV to receive treatment, and 95% of those on treatment to achieve viral suppression. This remarkable accomplishment is a result of the collective efforts of HIV/AIDS service providers (HSPs). The role of HSPs has become more diversified, serving as a key role in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, supporting PLHIV, and mitigating the spread of the virus in the community. At the same time, this also presents challenges for novices in the field of HIV services. Although prior studies have explored work-related uncertainties across various fields, there''s limited research on uncertainties among novice HIV field workers in NGOs. In this study, researcher examines the work-related uncertainty faced by novice HIV/AIDS Service Providers with less than 3 years of working experience in HIV services. Building on the literature review of public health and communication studies, this study uses Uncertainty Management Theory as a framework to conduct qualitative interviews. A total of 17 HIV/AIDS Service Providers from representative Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Taiwan (n=8, with 6 NGOs) and Hong Kong (n=9, with 3 NGOs), including counselors, case managers, social workers, and program officers. Results show that these uncertainties across 3 main categories: individual level, organizational level, and related to HIV/AIDS. Novice HIV/AIDS Service Providers in these two locations reveal similarities and differences in managing uncertainty. The findings can contribute to further studies for developing interventions and training programs for HIV/AIDS Service Providers in Taiwan and Hong Kong. | en |
