In recent years, Vietnam has experienced rapid economic development, combining political stability, geographical advantages, free trade agreements, and demographic dividends, making it a popular destination for many businesses to invest in. According to Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, Vietnam is one of the countries in Southeast Asia with the highest Taiwanese investment. In the past, Taiwanese companies mainly concentrated their investments in Vietnam's traditional industries such as textiles, footwear, hardware, etc but in recent years, there has been an increasing presence of Taiwanese high-tech electronics industries in Vietnam. With the growth of the Vietnamese market and the increasing purchasing power of its population, coupled with its enormous market potential of one hundred million people, Vietnam will attract more Taiwanese startups to invest. Compared to Taiwan's traditional or electronics industries, Taiwanese startups receive less assistance from the government and intermediaries when expanding overseas. Currently, there is a limited number of entrepreneurship intermediary organizations between Taiwan and Vietnam, and Taiwanese startups mainly enter the Vietnamese market independently. However, Taiwanese startups will face multiple challenges in the development process in Vietnam, including regulations, local networks and relationships, talent, and information barriers, which will impact the speed of progress and operational effectiveness. This study will employ a case analysis and secondary data analysis approach to introduce the startup environment in Vietnam and explore the opportunities and challenges faced by Taiwanese startups investing in Vietnam, as well as the role played by Taiwan-Vietnam startup intermediary organizations. The results of this study emphasize the importance of Taiwan-Vietnam startup intermediary organizations and their multiple roles and value in Taiwan-Vietnam startup collaborations. These organizations can integrate resources from both Taiwan and Vietnam, providing a comprehensive cross-border and cross-disciplinary startup platform. In the future, Taiwanese startups should strengthen their cooperation with startup intermediary organizations to fully leverage the resources and support provided by Taiwan-Vietnam startup intermediary organizations, promoting the smooth progress of Taiwan-Vietnam startup collaborations. |
