摘要: | 解嚴後,日治時期研究臺灣原住民的踏查家,經由「史料翻譯」的過程,重新被臺灣社會所認識,並成為許多作家在書寫日治時期原住民歷史時,所援引的重要書寫資源。此一現象,不僅呼應以臺灣島上人民為研究主體的「臺灣島史」概念,亦牽涉解嚴後在臺灣文學史上,逐漸蓬勃發展的諸多面向:如史料翻譯與歷史書寫、田野調查與臺灣文學,以及臺灣文學作家如何藉由日治時期歷史的書寫,來建構臺灣主體歷史。也因此,本文欲從「日治踏查遺緒」的概念出發,聚焦在日治時期踏查家的史料,如何在解嚴後被翻譯,進而透過作家書寫日治時期原住民歷史的過程,轉化為認識臺灣島嶼歷史與反思族群關係的多重視角。
本文先於第二章說明「日治踏查遺緒」生成的歷史背景:透過梳理日治踏查史料在戰後的「翻譯史」,釐清為何至解嚴後,才出現許多作家援引這些史料來創作。接著,於三四章分論解嚴後漢人與原住民作家的原住民歷史書寫,探問從史料不足到譯註的出現,如何影響作家的書寫?而作家在接收這些史料時,有哪些取捨與對話,他們又如何書寫日治踏查家的形象?第三章將指出王家祥、朱和之與瀟湘神等漢人作家,皆選擇再現森丑之助的形象,實則援用其作為「蕃通」的視野,傳達自身對於原住民歷史的關懷,尋找接近他者歷史的倫理視角;而第四章中的瓦歷斯.諾幹、夏曼.藍波安、巴代、馬紹.阿紀等原住民作家,其作品廣泛運用日治時期不同踏查家的史料,在書寫中尋找建構主體認同的可能途徑,亦反映出當代原住民族面對殖民歷史的不同態度。 透過歷史脈絡的爬梳與作品分析,本文期以描繪解嚴後的臺灣文學史中,在「史料」與「踏查」之間所共築的文學風景──作家們對於日治踏查家所抱持的不同態度:從漢人作家關切的「再現倫理」,到原住民作家的「糾纏姿態」,正反映出解嚴後對於臺灣島嶼歷史的「再踏查」過程,從不存有唯一的路徑。 After the lifting of martial law, researchers who studied Taiwan’s indigenous people during the Japanese colonial period were rediscovered by Taiwanese society through the process of “translation” and became important writing resources for many Taiwanese writers. This phenomenon not only echoes the concept of “History of Taiwan Island” with the people of Taiwan as the main research subject, but also involves many aspects that have gradually flourished in Taiwan’s literary history after the lifting of martial law: such as historical translation and historical writing, field investigation and Taiwanese literature, and how Taiwanese writers construct Taiwanese subject history by writing about the history of the Japanese colonial period. Therefore, this article aims to start from the concept of “Japanese colonial exploration legacy”, focusing on how historical materials from Japanese colonial explorers were translated after the lifting of martial law, and then transformed into multiple perspectives for understanding Taiwanese island history and reflecting on ethnic relations through the process of writers writing about indigenous history during the Japanese colonial period. This article first explains the historical background of the “Japanese colonial exploration legacy” in Chapter 2: Through constructing the “translation history” of the Japanese colonial exploration materials in the post-war period, I clarify why many writers did not use these materials to create until after the lifting of martial law. Then, in Chapters 3 and 4, this article discuss the indigenous history writing of Han and indigenous writers’ works, and asks how the lack of historical materials and the emergence of translations affect the writers’ writing? And how do the writers receivie these materials, and how do they represent the image of the Japanese colonial explorers? Chapter 3 will point out that Han writers such as Wang Jia-xiang, Zhu He-zhi and Xiao Xiang-shen, focus on representing the image of Mori Unosuke, actually use his perspective as a “barbarian communicator” to convey their own concern for indigenous history and find ethical ways to approach the history of others; while in Chapter 4, indigenous writers such as Walis Nokan, Syaman Rapongan, Badai, Masao Aki, whose works widely use historical materials from different explorers during the Japanese colonial period, looking for possible ways to construct subject identity in their writing, and also reflect different attitudes of contemporary indigenous people towards colonial history. Through the analysis of historical context and works, this article aims to depict the literary phenomenon between “historical materials” and “exploration” in Taiwan’s literary history after the lifting of martial law - the different attitudes held by writers towards explorers during the Japanese colonial period: from the “re-presentation ethics” of concern to Han writers, to the “entangled posture” of indigenous writers, reflecting the process of “re-surveying” Taiwan’s island history is no single path. |
